Et vive les pulls doudou

I remember Annie being excited about a Uniqlo store last year during our short New York trip. I remember going in and saying “Well yeah. It’s just plain colors everywhere, big deal.”

Then earlier this month, I saw the Uniqlo ads everywhere in Paris. I must admit their marketing people did a good job. First, they picked out the trendiest frenchies: Sebastien Tellier, Dj Mehdi, Mathieu Kassovitz, and Emmanuelle Seigner to name a few. Of course these people are all pretty charming. Then, they put the ads everywhere: on buses, in newspapers… And I became obsessed with it. The date October 1st (the store’s opening date) was in my mind 24/7. I googled Uniqlo and grew a real interest for the japanese-quality-affordable-cool-basic-clothes.

Today, I went to the store with my friend Sylou. Funny they still had a VIP looking line at the entrance. So we waited for like 10 minutes and finally got in. Wow. Cool colors everywhere, Phoenix music bangin’, Japanese staff… I was ready to spend some moneys. Which I did. I purchased a 19e flanel shirt and a 14e heat tech (wth is that anyway?) black shirt. Ugh. I’m such a loser. They totally got me.
